“If only I had finished my IBM Data Science Professional Certificate on time…” Peter said this to himself for the third time that week.
Peter was a data enthusiast living in a developing country. He had done everything he was told to do. He got his bachelor's degree. Then he decided to take his career seriously. “I want to become a Data Scientist.” Simple enough. Or so he thought.
So Peter went to YouTube
He watched video after video:
▶️ “How to Become a Data Scientist in 3 Months.”
▶️ “10 Skills Every Data Scientist Must Have.”
▶️ “The Only Roadmap You Need to Get a $100k Remote Job.”
And before long, Peter had 47 tabs open:
Each person had a different opinion. Each roadmap had a different starting point. And somehow, every video made him feel like he was already behind.
The certificate trap
Until one day, Peter found a professional certificate on Coursera. “Aha! This is it,” he thought. If he could just complete this certificate, everything would finally make sense.
He imagined updating his LinkedIn. Adding the shiny badge to his CV. Sending out applications. Recruiters discovering his profile. A remote job. A dollar salary. The soft life.
But that was only one piece of the puzzle. The truth is: a certificate is not a career. A course is not a roadmap. And watching 200 YouTube videos is not the same as knowing what to learn next.
Peter didn't need more information. He needed direction.
He needed to see the bigger picture — the questions no single tutorial ever answers:
- 1What should I learn first?
- 2What concepts should come next?
- 3What skills actually depend on other skills?
- 4Which courses are worth taking?
- 5Which certifications make sense for my career path?
- 6What projects should I build to prove I can do the work?
- 7And most importantly — what should I do next?
That's what we built with CV Booster Roadmaps
Tell us the role you're aiming for, and we map the exact skills, in the right order — what to learn first, what depends on what, which real certifications are worth your time, and the projects that prove you can actually do the work. No 47 tabs. No guesswork. Just your next step, and the one after that.
Your career shouldn't depend on which YouTube video the algorithm decides to show you next. Start with a roadmap.
